ALWAGHT- The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has refused Washington’s conditions for nuclear talks, stating that no dignified nation would accept negotiations under threat, nor would any prudent leader support it.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated in a televised address that negotiations with the United States under the current conditions would bring no benefits to Iran and could cause serious, possibly irreversible harm. He warned that accepting talks under threat would show Iran’s vulnerability to intimidation and lead to continuous, escalating demands.
He criticized the United States for predetermining the outcome of any dialogue, saying their demands effectively amount to dictation rather than genuine negotiation. Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that Washington is forcing Iran to shut down its nuclear activities, which he called an imposition, not a negotiation.
Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted recent American calls for Iran to abandon both long-range and short-range missiles. He explained that the true goal of these demands is to weaken Iran’s defenses so much that it would be unable to respond if attacked.
