ALWAGHT- According to a senior Iranian commander, Israel lacks the strength to engage in war without US and NATO backing, describing such a conflict as resistance against 'global arrogance.'
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army, marked Sacred Defense Week by comparing Iraq’s 1980s war against Iran with Israel’s 12-day offensive in June. He said both aggressions aimed to weaken the Islamic Revolution and undermine Iran’s territorial integrity.
Sayyari stressed that Israel is incapable of waging war without NATO and US backing, echoing Ayatollah Khamenei’s remarks that the regime was ultimately left “crushed.” He noted that during the June conflict, which claimed over 1,000 Iranian lives, including military leaders and scientists, the US escalated matters by bombing peaceful nuclear facilities. Iran, however, halted the offensive through retaliatory operations.
The commander underlined parallels between Saddam’s war on Iran and Israel’s assault, arguing that global powers armed both enemies. He said Iran’s struggle is not against “small enemies” but against global arrogance. Even after the Iraq war, he added, enemies resorted to sanctions, cultural warfare, and psychological pressure—but Iran, he insisted, has remained resilient and victorious.
