ALWAGHT- Israeli airstrikes hit a government building in Sana’a on Thursday, killing Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi and several cabinet officials.
The Yemeni government confirmed the martyrdom of Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi and six cabinet ministers in an Israeli airstrike on a government building in Sana’a. The attack occurred during a routine meeting reviewing the government’s one-year performance. Several other ministers were injured, and the government assured the public that essential services would continue uninterrupted.
The government vowed decisive retaliation against what it called Zionist terrorism and reaffirmed Yemen’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. Officials emphasized the nation’s determination to strengthen its armed forces and maintain solidarity with oppressed peoples worldwide.
The martyred officials included the ministers of information, justice, economy, agriculture, and social affairs. PM Al-Rahwi was recognized for his lifelong public service, leadership in Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, and efforts to form the “Government of Change and Construction” in 2024. He had survived multiple prior assassination attempts and was targeted due to his support for Palestinian resistance.
The other ministers were distinguished professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields. They included media expert Hashem Ahmed Sharaf Al-Din, anti-corruption judge Mujahid Ali, economist Moeen Hashem Al-Mahaqiri, agricultural specialist Dr. Radwan Al-Ruba‘i, and social affairs scholar Samir Baj‘alah, all of whom contributed significantly to Yemen’s governance, development, and public welfare before their tragic deaths.
