ALWAGHT- According to the presidents of Iran and Venezuela, “national unity” and solidarity serve as the foundation for resisting outside interference and defending sovereignty against US pressure on Caracas.
In a phone call on Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro discussed regional and international issues, including recent US provocations against Caracas. Both leaders stressed the importance of “national unity” and solidarity as shields against foreign intervention, with Pezeshkian drawing on Iran’s own experience of resisting US-Israeli aggression. He reaffirmed Iran’s strong support for Venezuela’s sovereignty and readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.
Maduro emphasized Venezuela’s “complete unity” between the state, people, and armed forces, which he said gives the nation strength to resist threats. He accused the United States of waging psychological warfare through false narratives and noted that millions of Venezuelans stand ready to defend their homeland. Despite Washington’s deployment of warships, submarines, aircraft, and thousands of troops near Venezuela, Maduro maintained that his country remains at peace but prepared for any challenge.
The Venezuelan leader also rejected US allegations of narco-trafficking and criticized the recent military strike that killed Venezuelan citizens. Highlighting Venezuela’s peace-driven efforts in Latin America, Maduro said his government will continue working with regional allies to ensure stability. He thanked Iran for its steadfast support, calling it a source of “double motivation” in protecting independence and dignity, while pledging to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
