Alwaght- Iranian Commander says his country has no military force in the Iraqi operation to liberate its northern city of Mosul from ISIS domination.
The Commander in Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the Iraqi forces present in the operation are fully capable of liberating the city and there is no need for Iranian forces to get involved.
"The Iraqi fighter and Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) are too capable to need Iranian forces. Of course, a limited consultancy role may be possible but absolutely we have no force in Mosul," Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari told a group of reporters in Tehran.
The commander also predicted that the operation may take long and so the terrorists may flee Iraq for Syrian cities.
Iraqi army along with volunteer forces initiated an operation on 17 October to liberate Mosul that fell to ISIS terrorist group back in 2014. The city is considered the last stronghold of the group in Iraq and liberating it could mean a victory over terrorists in the country.
