Alwaght- Syrian air force launched a series of attacks against terrorist positions in the northern city of Aleppo ahead of the ground operation that will be initiated soon.

The “concentrated airstrikes” targeted heavy vehicles and military positions used by the terrorists to attack the Syrian army during their recent attack which was foiled by the army.

A source within the Syrian military said the raids are underway against militant bases in the town of Khan Touman to the south of the city and elsewhere in the area, AFP reported.

The strikes led to “the destruction of armored vehicles and (other) vehicles, some of which were equipped with machine guns,” he said.

After a weeklong truce brokered by the US and Russian foreign ministers, terrorist groups in Aleppo initiated a large scale attack on Syrian army positions which was foiled by the army. Now the Syrian army is on the final stages of preparing for an offensive to liberate the city.

The shaky ceasefire was terminated after the US forces attacked a Syrian army position in Deir Ezzor killing 80 soldiers.
