Five Israeli Soldiers Killed, 14 Wounded in Attack on Infantry Unit in Northern Gaza

ALWAGHT- A resistance operation in northern Gaza has left as many as five Israeli troops dead and 14 wounded, two of them critically, after targeting an infantry unit.

On Monday night, Israeli infantry soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion were hit by a roadside bomb during ground operations in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza. The Israeli military reported that the troops were on foot when the explosion occurred, and additional casualties were sustained as resistance fighters disrupted the evacuation efforts. The situation required backup rescue forces and turned into a prolonged operation.

Hamas’ military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, praised the attack as a strategic success. Spokesman Abu Obeida described the operation as a blow to the Israeli army’s image, emphasizing the resistance’s continued "battle of attrition" across Gaza. He warned of further Israeli casualties and potential captives if the occupation persists, stating that Israel’s ability to rescue its forces was already strained and may soon fail entirely.

Abu Obeida also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, warning that maintaining a military presence in Gaza would be a grave mistake. His comments followed a separate ambush by Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades, which claimed to have killed or wounded at least 40 Israeli troops in northern Gaza. These developments come amid Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, which has resulted in over 57,500 Palestinian deaths—most of them women and children—and has further intensified the long-standing blockade and humanitarian crisis in the region.
