Alwaght – The Aleppo Shariaa Council backing the militant groups in Syrian has issued a fatwa calling the Turkish incursion into Syrian soil a “legal Jihad”.
The Turkish incursion, dubbed “Euphrates Shield”, is targeting the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the ISIS terrorist group north of the country.
The Syrian government has strongly condemned the Turkish operation, calling it an incursion against its territory.
The religious council stressed on Turkey as being a Muslim country and a staunch ally of the jihadist rebels in Syria to justify its decree to call the attack a permissible “jihad”.
The situation in the region is extremely complicated as many groups fighting in the Euphrates Shield operation are also allied with one of the largest terrorist group Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Al-Nusra Front).
