Alwaght- At least 25 people were killed and 97 others were injured in three bomb explosions in the Afghan Capital.
A double attack happened near Defense Ministry and killed 24 people. The first attacker detonated his explosive belt near the building entrance while a second attacker exploded himself after the security forces gathered to help the causalities.
"Two suicide bombers, both on foot, detonated their explosives... in downtown Kabul," Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said.
Taliban took responsibility for the attack and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, said the first explosion targeted the Defense Ministry while the second targeted police officers.
In another attack a car bomb exploded near a building that Afghan security forces believe is a gust home for foreign diplomats, however they said the real target was not clear.
The attacked killed one person and injured six others. Police officers evacuated the nearby building fearing a second attack.
“More than 30 people who were trapped have been evacuated by the security forces,” Sediq Sediqqi said.
The explosions occurred after 13 people, including seven students, three police, two security guards and a doorman, were killed in an attack on the American University in Kabul on August 24. Thirty students were also injured.
Afghanistan has been gripped by insecurity since the US and its allies invaded the country as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror in 2001. Many parts of the country still remain plagued by militancy despite the presence of foreign troops.
