Alwaght- Syrian forces have continued with counter-terrorism operations across the country including foiling an attack by ISIS in Raqqa and destroying al-Nusra Front positions in Daraa.
According to Syrian news agency, SANA, on Monday the country's army in cooperation with popular defense groups clashed Sunday night with terrorist groups affiliated to ISIS terrorist organization that attacked military positions in Anbaj and Zakiyeh/ Deir Hafer crossroad on Atherya / al-Tabqa road in the western countryside of Raqq province.
The clashes ended with thwarting the attack in addition to killing and injuring scores of terrorists and destroying a number of their vehicles, arms and ammunition.
In Daraa city, Syrian army units destroyed mortar launchers, artillery, and command center for terrorist groups affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra in al-Arbaeen neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad area.
Meanwhile the, Syrian army is 10-km far from Tabaqa airbase in Raqqa's western countryside, Syrian sources reported.
The sources said that the Syrian army on Sunday controlled al-Thawra oil field, near Tabaqa airbase, after army soldiers got into labors residences area there.
The move came following fierce clashes with ISIS Takfiri terrorists, the sources said, adding that heavy losses were inflicted upon the terrorists.
Elsewhere, the Syrian army continued advancing in Eastern Ghouta, where soldiers took control of al-Bahariyeh school and tower following clashes with foreign-backed terrorists.
In Hama, the Syrian army foiled an attack by the so-called "Jaish al-Izza" on al-Zillaqiyat town, North West of Hama. Fierce clashes took place, the sources said, adding that the Syrian army managed to kill and injure several terrorists.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of nearly half a million people, over one million injured and an estimated 12.5 million now displaced.
Syrian government says terrorists in the country are backed by the US and its regional allies including the Israeli regime, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
For several weeks now, Syrian forces have been striking positions against terrorists including Raqaa, a major bastion of ISIS terrorist group.
