ALWAGHT- According to President Masoud Pezeshkian, the forthcoming SCO summit offers an opportunity to address US and European unilateral actions on the international stage.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departed Tehran on Sunday for Tianjin, China, to attend the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the SCO Plus Meeting. He described the summit as a key step toward strengthening multilateralism and countering US and European unilateralism and authoritarianism in global affairs.
Pezeshkian highlighted the gathering as an important platform for member and observer states to enhance cooperation in scientific, cultural, economic, political, and security fields. He emphasized that the SCO, representing nearly 2.5 billion people and over 40 percent of the world economy, provides a unique opportunity to deepen interactions across various sectors.
On the sidelines of the event, Pezeshkian said he would hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders, expressing hope that these meetings would contribute to regional and global peace, security, and development. The summit, chaired by Xi, will host more than 20 foreign leaders and 10 international organization heads.
