Alwaght- Israeli regime's war minister Moshe Yalon resigned on Friday, saying the regime was being taken over by "extremist and dangerous elements".
Immediately after the move, the regime's hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu replaced him with a far-right politician in a bid to strengthen his increasingly weak coalition.
Political sources say Netanyahu has offered long-time rival Avigdor Lieberman the war ministry portfolio, a post crucial for the occupier and expansionist regime. The Israeli regime's war ministry also runs affairs in the occupied West Bank, where Palestinians struggling for statehood live amid ongoing expansion of illegal Zionist settlements.
Netanyahu, who doubles as foreign minister, added that he had offered the top diplomatic post to Yaalon but was refused.
Meanwhile Palestinian Islamic Resistance movement Hamas said on Friday threats by ultranationalist Lieberman, would not scare the movement’s leaders.
Member of Hamas’ politburo, Fathi Hammad, said Lieberman’s threats of assassinating Hamas political and military leaders would not affect the movement, during a protest to commemorate the 1948 Nakba held in the western part of Gaza City.
We do not call for war, but we would fight if it was imposed upon us,” Hammad said.
Lieberman, a leader of the extremist Yisrael Beiteinu party, has threatened to assassinate Hamas leaders, notably declaring in 2014 that murdering Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal would be the only way to deter future tunnel construction in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Lieberman also regularly calls for the overthrow of the Hamas government in Gaza, and has advocated for the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority.
