ALWAGHT- Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf denied reports that the IAEA would inspect bombed nuclear sites, saying inspections are legally limited to the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Tehran Research Reactor.
Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf rejected reports that the IAEA has been granted access to nuclear sites damaged in US-Israeli strikes, saying Iranian law prohibits inspections at those locations. He said IAEA access is currently restricted to the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Tehran Research Reactor under decisions made by Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
Qalibaf said the security council determines the scope of inspections and that Iran will not allow any access beyond what has been authorized. He stressed that the restrictions are legally binding and that no inspections will be permitted at bombed or damaged nuclear facilities.
Defending his role as Iran's chief negotiator, Qalibaf said he remains committed to both diplomacy and national defense. He argued that Iran must negotiate from a position of strength, adding that the comments came after talks in Doha, where Tehran raised alleged US violations of the ceasefire memorandum of understanding in discussions held without American participation.
