ALWAGHT- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stated that regional nations and the global community must work together to end terrorism in West Asia.
During a meeting on Sunday in Damascus with Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad emphasized that combating terrorism is a shared regional and global responsibility. He warned that the threat of terrorism endangers people worldwide.
The discussions between Assad and Nasirzadeh covered defense and security issues in the region and explored ways to enhance Tehran-Damascus cooperation to counter terrorism and promote regional stability.
Earlier, Nasirzadeh, on a two-day visit to Damascus, met with Syrian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ali Mahmoud Abbas. Iran was the first nation to assist Syria following the outbreak of foreign-backed violence in 2011. In 2017, Iran’s military advisory support played a key role in Syria’s decisive victory over the ISIS terrorist group.
