Alwaght- Extremist Israeli settlers have attempted to torch house of a Palestinian resident in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
Wafa News cited Imad Abu Shamsiya, the founder of Human Rights Defenders, as saying that settlers from the nearby illegal colonial settlement, Ramat Yishai, attempted to set fire to house of Tayseer Abu Eisha in the area of Tal al-Ramida.
He added that Abu Eisha’s house is the closest to the settlement.
Abu Shamisya noted that the family woke up to the settlers attempting to cut off the barbed-wire fence separating the house from the settlement and setting a sun shade sail used to protect the house on fire.
He added that Abu Eisha’s house has become a frequent target of settler attack with the purpose of driving the family out of the house.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and rarely is prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
