MSF Slams Continuation of Saudi Aggression on Yemen

MSF Slams Continuation of Saudi Aggression on Yemen
Alwaght- A leading international medical aid organization has criticized the continuation of the Saudi airstrikes against Yemen, particularly in the northern areas of the war torn country.
The Médecins Sans Frontiers-Doctors Without Borders- (MSF) has said in a report that the situation in Yemen is so dire that civilians in the northern areas have fled to mountains and caves running to escape the indiscriminate shelling by Saudi-led forces which destroyed many houses and damaged the infrastructure in the region.
In a report issued in the organization's website on Friday, MSF Program Coordinator Miriam Czech, she pointed out the northern regions in Yemen, especially in the Haydan district of the northern Sa'ada province and the surrounding areas are being pounded night and day by Saudi regime forces.
On 26 October, a Saudi-led coalition airstrike destroyed an MSF-supported hospital in Haydan. Czech, who used to go to Haydan several times a week to assist personnel and patients, says she saw in the town in the days following the bombing. She added that the whole region is being targeted by the coalition airstrikes.
"Our hospital in the Haydan was hit several times. Fortunately, the first hit damaged the operations theater while it was empty and the staffs were busy with people in the emergency room. They just had time to run off as another missile hit the maternity ward," MSF country director Hassan Boucenine told reporters.
"It could be a mistake, but the fact of the matter is it's a war crime. There's no reason to target a hospital. We provided (the coalition) with all of our GPS coordinates about two weeks ago." He said at least two staff members had been hurt by flying debris.
Yemen has been under Saudi airstrikes on a daily basis since March 26. The regime in Riyadh unleashed the air raids in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Saudi Arabia.
According to a Yemeni coalition of observers monitoring Yemen's developments, Saudi-led forces have killed over 7,200 people, including almost 2,000 children and women and at least 15,000 injured.
The Saudi-led coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah movement fighters, but the coalition warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructure including schools, hospitals, mosques etc.
