A Pakistani government statement added that the country's air force jets targeted terrorists' hideouts in Shawal Tehsil, killing at least 22 suspected Taliban followers
Six terrorists hideouts and other targets were destroyed during the airstrikes, claimed the statement.
Military operation Zarb-i-Azb was launched by the Pakistan Army on June 15 following a brazen terrorists attack on Karachi's international airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators.
Since the beginning of Operation Zarb-i-Azb in June 2014, terrorists have fled to other tribal regions, including Khyber and its Tirah Valley and Shawal in North Waziristan, all of which border Afghanistan.
The Pakistani army says it has managed to kill nearly 3,000 terrorists over the past months.
The semi-autonomous tribal regions on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan have been a hideout for terrorists groups over the past years. The al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists use the mountainous border area to launch attacks in both countries.
