Alwaght-The Saudi regime has escalated the war in Yemen by launching a land incursion on the country’s northern territories following increasing retaliatory attacks by Yemeni forces on Saudi territory.
Saudi military spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmed Assiri confirmed that the country’s invaded northern Yemeni regions which overlook the southwestern Saudi province of Jizan.
Assiri claimed that Saudi troops have taken some areas under their control in the invasion adding that the invasion is a temporary military strategy that does not aim to take Yemeni territory.
The Saudi military official added that the land incursion is in response to Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and their allied army forces that have launched many retaliatory attacks on Saudi Arabia recently.
Yemeni forces have been pounding the Saudi province with artillery and missile attacks in retaliation for Riyadh's deadly aggression against the impoverished Arab country.
On Wednesday, Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and their allied army units launched a Scud missile at the Hamiyeh power plant in Jizan, killing several troops guarding the strategic facility.
Latest Saudi airstrikes hit the Yemeni provinces of Jawf, Hajjah, Sana’a, Sa’ada and Ma’rib on Wednesday, killing at least 9 civilians including a child. At least ten people were also injured.
Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Thousands have been killed and injured in the illegal war attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
However, Yemeni army, backed by popular committees and tribal fighter has been responding to the aggression by targeting several Saudi border military posts and while battling ousted regime militias and al-Qaeda-linked terrorists.
