Alwaght- Syrian forces in the southwestern countryside of Daraa continued their operations against ISIS terrorists, inflicting heavy losses on the Takfiri terrorist group.
Sources say that army units launched accurate operations from Jileen town and its surrounding after intensive bombardment of terrorists’ dens and gatherings. Then heavy clashes erupted among army units and terrorist groups which used various types of machine guns, missiles and snipers in a failed attempt to prevent the advance of the army units which reached the outskirts of the town and its northern part in the direction of al-Mazira village.
The reporter added that scores of terrorists were killed and others injured due to the clashes as their fortified points were destroyed.
Later, a military source said that units of the army continued their military operations against ISIS terrorist organization in the southern area, establishing control over a number of villages and towns to the north-west of Daraa and south east of Quneitra.
Among the villages and towns liberated were Khan Seida, Basala, Ayn Qadi, al-Hanout and Abou Hartin.
The source added that the engineering units began opening roads in the said villages after removing and dismantling mines and bombs there.
Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Syrian army forces have gained control of 90% of the Daraa province in the country’s southwest after ejecting West-backed terrorists.
In July 2017, Russia, US and Jordan agreed the creation of the de-escalation zone in southwest Syria that included the country’s three southernmost provinces: Daraa, Al-Quneitra and As-Suwayda. The situation there has grown tense in the past few months.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry says in Daraa , there have been attempts by the Syrian opposition, and also by ISIS and al-Nusra Front Takfiri terrorist groups to create an autonomous region in the south of Syria with the US assistance, which can split the country.
