ALWAGHT- Addressing thousands of women and girls from across Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that Islam provides women with an exalted status and equal rights in social and political life, criticizing the influence of “corrupt Western culture.”
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, praised the high and exalted status of women in Islam during a meeting with thousands of Iranian women and girls in Tehran. Citing Fatima al-Zahra, the Prophet Muhammad’s daughter, as a model, he described her as embodying the highest qualities in worship, humility, selflessness, resilience, courage, political awareness, household management, and child-rearing, emphasizing that Iranian women draw lessons from her example.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted that Islam grants women equal rights with men in social, political, and spiritual life, providing opportunities to advance in government, business, and public affairs. He stressed that men and women are complementary elements in society, playing key roles in family, civilization, and societal development, and that women are entitled to justice, security, dignity, equal pay, and protections in work and family life.
The Leader criticized Western culture for undermining women’s dignity, promoting sexual immorality, and destroying family structures, contrasting it with Islam’s emphasis on modesty, hijab, and gender-specific guidelines aimed at protecting women and society. He argued that while capitalist systems treat women as objects, Islam empowers them with independence, capability, identity, and opportunities for advancement.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised the achievements of Iranian women in science, sports, research, politics, health, and social activities, noting that the Islamic Republic has enabled unprecedented female participation across all fields. He called on media to avoid promoting Western perspectives on women and instead highlight Islam’s values, which he said could attract global attention and demonstrate the effective role of Muslim women in society.
