Alwaght- A senior official of Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has reiterated that resistance is an inalienable right of Palestinian people which will never be given up.
Hamas leader in occupied West Bank Hassan Yousef made the comment in reaction to the latest remarks of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on resistance weapons.
He said that the problem is not only with Abbas’s repeated statements in this regard, but also in Fatah Movement’s procrastination in lifting the punitive measures on Gaza.
The senior Hamas official called on Palestinian factions to confront all of those who exert efforts for hindering the reconciliation.
He invited the factions to convene for bringing the national issues to discussion and accelerating the formation of a national government. Yousef also called for conducting general elections that would pave the way for reforming the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Last month Hamas rejected pressures to be disarmed or recognize Israeli regime. "No one in the universe can disarm us. On the contrary, we will continue to have the power to protect our citizens," Yahya Sinwar former head of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas military wing, said. "No one has the ability to extract from us recognition of the occupation," Sinwar added.
Hamas and Fatah movements reached a reconciliation agreement mid-last month following two rounds of talks held in Cairo.
Several key issues, however, such as the status of Hamas’ military wing, and the future of between 40,000 and 50,000 civil servants that have been hired by Hamas since the faction took over Gaza in 2007 remain unresolved. Hamas has reiterated that armed resistance against the usurper Israeli regime must continue and hence the necessity to maintain weapons until all Palestinian territories are liberated.
