ALWAGHT- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf rejected Washington’s assertion that Tehran has no control over the Strait of Hormuz, pointing to market prices as evidence to the contrary.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf mocked Washington’s messaging, arguing that financial markets contradict the US assertion that Iran has no control over the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed to what he described as a substantial market premium of $35 above pre-invasion levels, rising to $50 when using earlier and actual figures.
Ghalibaf said the market’s reaction either reflected a lack of understanding or contradicted the US narrative. In a sarcastic reference to the situation, he also joked about a supposed “free-dollar vending machine” in the Strait of Hormuz, inviting those who believe the US claim to go and collect the money.
