In a message marking the reopening of schools and universities on Tuesday, he said knowledge combined with faith and ethics could act as an "iron shield" and "sharp sword" capable of cutting off the hands of aggressors, specifically naming the US government and the "fabricated Zionist regime."
The Leader emphasized the role of the younger generation in shaping Iran's future, calling on students to expand their knowledge, develop practical skills, and strengthen ties with their families and society. He said they have a responsibility to advance Iran by pushing the boundaries of knowledge and achieving scientific and technological progress, while encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and the preservation of national identity, cultural independence, Persian language, and the symbols of the Islamic Republic.
Referring to the recent war, Ayatollah Khamenei called on students to remember those killed from Iran's school and university communities. According to the Ministry of Education, US-Israeli attacks since February 28 have killed 296 students and more than 65 teachers, including over 160 killed in a double-tap strike on Shajareh Tayyebe elementary school in Minab. He said this grief would guide minds toward "the true nature of the struggle between good and evil," praised teachers and professors for their role in educating generations, acknowledged concerns over their livelihoods, and expressed hope for improved economic conditions.
