ALWAGHT- Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary has reaffirmed that Tehran does not intend to revive the diplomatic framework it followed with Washington before the war. He also urged the United States to take concrete steps and satisfy Iran’s stated requirements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Major General Mohsen Rezaei said Iran’s diplomatic approach has entered a new phase and will not return to its pre-war framework. He called on the United States to take concrete action and meet Tehran’s stated conditions, warning that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed otherwise.
Rezaei’s comments followed renewed threats from US President Donald Trump, who warned that Washington could “annihilate” Iran if Tehran rejected a deal. Iranian officials and the Armed Forces have dismissed the threats and said Washington must take steps before negotiations can resume.
Rezaei said Iran had conveyed seven conditions to the US through regional intermediaries, while Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly presented Tehran’s positions to US envoy Steve Witkoff in New York. Among the conditions are lifting the US naval blockade on Iranian ports and vessels, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending the war on all resistance fronts.
