Syria, Iran Discuss Improved Economic Ties

Alwaght- Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis has discussed improvement of economic delegation with a high ranking delegation from the Islamic Republic.

During the meeting in Damascus on Wednesday, Khamis met with advisor to the First Vice President of Iran, head of the Committee for Development of Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Saeed Ohadi and an accompanying delegation. According to the Syrian news agency, Sana, the talks centered on enhancement of economic and business ties between Tehran and Damascus.

During the meeting, Premier Khamis expressed Syria’s appreciation to the Iranian stances towards Syria in light of the terrorist war waged on the country and the unilateral coercive economic measures against the Syrian people.

He expressed Syrian government’s desire to strengthen the economic relations with Iran through the establishment of companies and factories and increasing the trade exchange.

For his part, Ohadi noted that the aim of the visit is to enhance the economic relations between Iran and Syria and to overcome obstacles in order to implement the signed agreements between the two countries in various service and economic fields.

Following the meeting, the Syrian-Iranian technical committees held a meeting during which they discussed ways to complete the implementation of previous bilateral contracts and agreed to consolidate “the principle of companies” in terms of investment partnership between the two countries.
