ALWAGHT- Recently released imagery shows extensive damage at a US military facility in Kuwait following an Iranian retaliatory strike, with multiple structures affected, including a bunker and sections of the airfield.
Newly released imagery reportedly shows extensive destruction at a US base in Kuwait, with several buildings reduced to rubble and debris scattered across the facility. A hardened bunker and sections of the airfield also appear to have sustained major damage.
The reported damage is consistent with separate ABC News and CBS News reports documenting destruction at US bases in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Satellite imagery has also shown damage to American positions across the region, although the Pentagon has not released a comprehensive public assessment.
A Pentagon inspector general report said hundreds of buildings and structures had been damaged, while estimates placed the cost of the war at between $33 billion and $38 billion. The Pentagon said 18 US personnel had been killed and 824 wounded since February 28.
The reported strikes followed US and Israeli attacks on Iran and subsequent Iranian retaliatory operations against US targets across West Asia. Iran also declared the Strait of Hormuz closed after the United States resumed military action and imposed a naval blockade.
