ALWAGHT- Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) President Pirhossein Kolivand said Qatar’s Red Crescent has expressed readiness to work with Iranian authorities to help determine the whereabouts and fate of three Iranian pilots reportedly being held in the Persian Gulf state.
Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) President Pirhossein Kolivand said there is evidence that three Iranian pilots may be in Qatar and called on the Qatar Red Crescent Society to use its channels to determine their status. He stressed that clarifying their fate would help ease the concerns of their families.
Kolivand said Qatari Red Crescent officials had pledged to assist in the case, while calling for broader cooperation between the two organizations in rescue operations, training and expertise-sharing. He also suggested renewing their previous memorandum of understanding.
According to Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff, two Iranian Su-24 fighter jets flew to Qatar on March 2 and were hit by air defenses while returning from a mission. One of four pilots was killed, while the other three were reportedly captured by Qatari forces; the body of the martyred pilot was returned to Iran in July.
