ALWAGHT- The latest resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors has, according to critics, further raised concerns over the agency’s neutrality, with its handling of Iran being portrayed as increasingly influenced by the political priorities of the United States and its Western allies.
The US and three European countries—France, the UK, and Germany—sponsored a resolution on Iran that was adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors. The measure and the referral of Iran’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council represent a continuation of pressure on Tehran.
It describes the resolution as largely repetitive and highlights opposition from Russia and China to what it characterizes as the IAEA’s anti-Iran approach. The statement also criticizes IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of making claims about Iran’s nuclear program that it says provided justification for subsequent military action against Iran.
Iran will continue its nuclear activities and pursue peaceful nuclear energy despite international resolutions. Such measures will not prevent Iran from advancing its scientific and technological capabilities.
