Alwaght-The United States has approved resumption of arms sales to the Saudi regime ignoring war crimes committed the regime in neighboring Yemen.
The State Department has approved resuming arms sales to Saudi Arabia previously blocked by Barack Obama.
Saudi Arabia is leading a mostly Arab coalition targeting an impoverished Yemeni nation with air strikes and artillery fire on an almost daily basis since late March 2015.
An annual report by UN experts who monitor the conflict in Yemen, seen by Reuters, said the Saudi-led coalition had carried out attacks that "may amount to war crimes"
The approval of the sales is an indicator that the Trump administration will seek closer ties with the Saudi regime in its ongoing brutal war and illegal war on Yemen which was launched with the objective of restoring power to fugitive Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia. Another aim of the war on Yemen is to undermine Ansarullah movement which Riyadh considers as a threat to its interests. The Saudi regime has been unable to attain its objectives after two years with civilians bearing the brunt of the Western-Israeli backed war on Yemen.
Over 11,500 Yemenis have been killed in the almost 2-year aggression, with the vast majority of them being civilians including women and children.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International has said by continuing to supply Saudi Arabia and its coalition of aggressors in Yemen, Britain risks complicity in acts that may amount to war crimes. The British government is now being taken to court over the legality of these arms transfers.
The London-based rights group says the British government must end its transfers of arms to members of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition which is carrying out unlawful and indiscriminate airstrikes in Yemen.
Amnesty International has also called for an independent enquiry into the supply of arms to Saudi Arabia and all parties currently involved in the Yemen conflict.
