Alwaght- The European Union and the Arab League have agreed to participate in rebuilding post-civil war Syria in what is an apparent ploy to cover up their negative role in the war-torn country.
The fourth ministerial meeting between the League of Arab States and the European Union took place on Tuesday in Cairo. The Arab side was led by Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, while European ministers were led by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.
"The Ministers finally expressed their commitment to support the reconstruction of Syria only once an inclusive political transition is firmly underway, in order to support the safe return of the millions of Syrian people who have fled their home," the ministers said in a joint declaration after the meeting.
This move by the EU and AL is a propaganda scheme by the two blocks to cover for members directly supporting terrorist groups which have been involved in unprecedented atrocities and massive destruction of Syria.
Top EU Members Support Terrorists in Syria
Top EU members especially France and Britain have been implicated in backing various terrorist groups or the so-called moderate rebels inside Syria. Speaking in April this year, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad particularly pinpointed EU member France and Arab League member Saudi Arabia as among the major backers of terrorism in the country. “Terrorism — that’s the real problem. We must fight it on the international level, because terrorism affects not only Syria. Terrorism exists in Iraq. It is directly supported by Turkey. It is directly supported by the ruling royal family of Saudi Arabia, as well as a number of Western states, especially France,” Assad said.
The EU claims it wants to partake in Syria reconstruction while continuing its sanctions against the country. On 27 May 2016, the EU renewed sanctions against the Syrian government until 1 June 2017 while the country was engaged in a war against terrorists.
Regime Change Illusion
The EU, Arab League declaration pointed out that, the two blocks would participate in Syria’s reconstruction “only once an inclusive political transition is firmly underway”. This statement shows that the West and their regional lackeys still hold their illusion of a ‘regime change’ in Syria. The West has been covertly funding and supporting terrorist groups in Syria order to institute regime change in the country which has played a leading role in the anti-Zionist axis of resistance. Claims of supporting reconstruction while still harboring illusions of overthrowing the legitimate Syrian government is gross dishonesty on the part of the two blocks.
Reconstruction but no Humanitarian Aid
The EU is announcing readiness to assist in Syria reconstruction while contrary to claims in the mainstream media, Western countries have not been sending humanitarian aid to Syria.
Moscow had for months been asking for western aid to be delivered to government and terrorist-held areas of Aleppo before the liberation of the city but EU ignored the calls. Mid this month, Syrian President Bashar Assad told RT in an interview that all Western aid for Syria is sent to terrorist groups. “Actually, all the aid that any Western country sent was to the terrorists, to be very clear, blunt and very transparent. They never cared a He pointed out that the western countries did not help any Syrian cities surrounded by terrorist organizations."
Assassination of Russian Ambassador, Possible Saudi, US Involvement
Meanwhile, the assassination of Russian ambassador to Turkey last week has cast a dark shadow over countries claiming to champion for Syria’s reconstruction while at the same time targeting a country that has been deeply involved in routing terrorists from Syria. Following the assassination of Andrei Karlov, government newspapers in Turkey were quick to point blame on the US’ Central Intelligence Agency, claiming the envoy’s death was a plot carried out by the US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Turkey says was behind the failed coup in July aimed at toppling Erdogan. Russian politicians have also hinted that the assassination could have been orchestrated by NATO countries, Saudi Arabia or Qatar.
Frantz Klintsevich, the deputy chairman of the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament’s defense and security committee, told reporters on Monday “It is highly likely - that representatives of foreign NATO secret services are behind it.”
Meanwhile Yevgeny Satanovsky, president of the Institute of the Middle East in Moscow says among those who would benefit from the assassination is Saudi Arabia. "In my view, this is revenge on Russia for the defeat in Aleppo. Currently the incident still has not been investigated but those who ordered the assassination could only be the Saudis, more specifically Prince Mohammad bin Salman, for whom the defeat in Aleppo is a catastrophe along the way to the throne," he said.
