Alwaght – A massive explosion in NYC's Chelsea neighborhood Saturday night that injured at least 29 people appears to have been "an intentional act," Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
The explosion happened on the city’s 23rd street leaving no fatalities and meanwhile a possible second device was removed several blocks away.
New York City mayor said that although investigators believe it was intentional, there appeared to be no link to terrorism.
The cause of explosion has not been determined, said New York City police commissioner James O'Neill.
New surveillance video from the explosion shows windows shattering as terrified people duck and run on the streets. The video, which features angles from inside and outside Orangetheory fitness in Chelsea, shows a screen on the street after the explosion and what appears to be papers flying in the air.
A device at a second location in Chelsea appears to be a pressure cooker with dark colored wiring coming out of the top center of the device. The device, mentioned earlier by police, is connected by silver duct tape to a small dark colored device attached to the outside of the pressure cooker, according to multiple local and federal law enforcement officials.
The New York Police Department Bomb Squad was searching the area, checking garbage cans, for any other possible explosive devices.
In another incident, an explosive device detonated in the New Jersey beach town of Seaside Park Saturday morning along the route of a 5k charity race, officials said.
The start of the run had been delayed due to the vast amount of participants, so there were not many people in the area when the explosion occurred. The race was cancelled after the blast. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the explosion, according to New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino.
The mayor said the Chelsea explosion has no apparent connection to the explosive device that detonated in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Nobody was injured in the New Jersey incident.
