Safe Presidential Elections in Afghanistan

Sunday 6 April 2014
Safe Presidential Elections in Afghanistan

Alwaght-Holding presidential elections in Afghanistan and its results plays a significant role in the fate of Afghans. Holding safe elections in Afghanistan keeps the achievements of the new government, Constitution of Afghanistan and the current political system.

The third presidential election in Afghanistan is very important, since it is effective in the future of Afghans. On the one hand, most of Americans and their allied forces are supposed to get out of Afghanistan and on the other hand, Taliban's destiny is specified by the end of 2014. It is noteworthy that the security status of Afghanistan remains fragile and no to reduction or stop in war and violence is expected.

Holding fair and free presidential elections in Afghanistan, the land of sequential crises is not only essential but it also can be the symbol of institutionalization of democratic values. Afghan society has reached post-Taliban era and achieved a new government after Taliban era in this country. Although the characteristics of Afghan society is still flowing in the social customs and traditions of tribal convention and  ethnicism and the ethnic biases are the most important elements in determining the identity of the nation of Afghanistan, Afghan people have accepted holding of elections for creating a stable society.  Perhaps, part of the acceptance and continuation of the current situation roots in their fears of Taliban's return.  In fact, the fear of Taliban's return is a significant sign of political society changes for getting away from extremism and seeking hope for emerging a new government in this country.

Keeping the achievements of Bonn conference is a necessity for Afghan people, the political parties and the state & central government in Afghanistan, committed to those achievements. Perhaps, that is why Taliban wanted to enter in states where they were forced to leave with the resistance of the people.

It can be claimed that presidential and provincial council elections is a guarantee for the future of Afghanistan based on current challenges. In fact, this election can remove variables of disruptive security in the future and control and reduce the insecurity that is mainly caused by the Taliban and its supporters. In addition, this election determines the presence or non-presence of foreign forces by security agreement.
