Alwaght- Iranian forces have apprehended three terrorists belonging to the so called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group as they attempted to penetrate into the country using the borders of the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan
"Last night a terrorist team whose members attempted to cross the border to create insecurity and carry out sabotage acts in Sistan and Balouchestan province were arrested by the border guards," Commander of the Iranian Border Guards Brigadier General Qassem Rezai told reporters in Zahedan city on Saturday.
He went on to say that the terrorists planned to sneak into the country via Mirjaveh border adding that during the 2-hour clashes, three terrorists were captured alive with one of them sustaining injuries.
"Based on their confessions, they have been hired by the US to foment insecurity in Sistan and Balouchestan, Kerman and the neighboring provinces through disruptive criminal activities," Rezai said.
He also announced that a cache of weapons, ammunition, detonators and illicit drugs were seized from the terrorist group, adding that many of the weapons are US-made.
Footage released by Iran's state-run TV showed equipment that carried 'Made in USA' labels.
In July, a senior Iranian lawmaker announced that Iran had dismantled nearly two dozen terrorist groups in the Eastern parts of the country in a six-month period.
"The security forces have apprehended 20 terrorist groups in Eastern Iran in the past six months," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Reza Mohseni Sani said.
He reiterated that Iran is fully monitoring the activities of the terrorist groups trying to enter the country.
Recently Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced that security forces had apprehended over 30 people affiliated to the Al-Qaeda terrorist network.
