Alwaght- Syrian students are making their way to class after some schools have reopened in Eastern Ghouta that recently was liberated from militant groups.
After the liberation of towns and communities from militants, schools, including primary schools, opened in Damascus' suburbs, Tass news agency reported.
"Schools opened recently. The government provided us with textbooks, and we immediately started working here, in this town. Children have been missing studies, and it is easy and pleasant to teach them. I used to work in Harasta and I was very happy to return here,” head of the city education department Ahmad Said Rustom told the Russia news agency.
On 31 March, 2018, The Syrian army has announced “full victory” against terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta area in the suburb of the capital Damascus after months of intense fighting.
Eastern Ghouta, which is home to nearly 400,000 people, fell to multiple militant groups in 2012, months after Syria plunged into crisis and has since served as a launch pad for fatal attacks against residents and infrastructure in Damascus.
The area has witnessed deadly violence over the past few months, with foreign-sponsored terrorists launching mortar attacks on the Syrian capital in the face of an imminent defeat.
After days of what has been described as one of the deadliest episodes in the war against foreign-backed militancy that has gripped Syria since 2011, Syrian forces agreed to let the militants flee to Syria's northern parts in order to save the lives of civilians caught in the crossfire.
