Turkish President Visiting Qatar after Kuwait with Regional Crisis on Agenda

Turkish President Visiting Qatar after Kuwait with Regional Crisis on Agenda

Alwaght- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Qatar on Tuesday to discuss the Persian Gulf crisis as well as Ankara's bilateral relations with Doha.

In his second visit to the Persian Gulf country since the start of a major diplomatic crisis more than five months ago, Erdogan will be hosted by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday.

Turkey backs Qatar in the Persian Gulf crisis that was triggered in June when Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain cut diplomatic and trade ties with Qatar.

The four states accuse Qatar of supporting terrorist groups -- the allegations Doha denies, describing the embargo as a breach of its national sovereignty.

Earlier Tuesday, Erdogan held talks with Kuwait's emir Tuesday, state media reported, as a crisis that has split Qatar from its Persian Gulf neighbors enters its sixth month.

Erdogan and Kuwaiti Ruler Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah discussed "regional and international developments," the government-run KUNA news agency said.

Kuwait has led mediation efforts in the dispute, while Turkey has stepped in to support Qatar with food imports in the face of a blockade by Saudi-led Arab regimes.
