ALWAGHT- Expressing deep concern over escalating conflicts in southern and eastern Yemen, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on regional states to act in support of Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani by phone to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, emphasizing that the Yemeni crisis can only be resolved through comprehensive dialogue among all Yemeni factions. He stressed that Iran supports an inclusive negotiation process involving all internal groups.
The Bahraini minister agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and stability in Yemen and the broader region. Both officials expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would reinforce Yemeni unity and strengthen regional stability.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran is closely monitoring developments in Yemen and urged all parties to exercise restraint. He emphasized that any action threatening Yemen’s stability or regional security is unacceptable, highlighting the need for collective regional attention to protect Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Baghaei outlined Iran’s stance for a permanent resolution, centered on three pillars: initiating comprehensive dialogue, fully implementing the established roadmap, and forming an inclusive government within a unified Yemen. The comments come amid Abu Dhabi-backed separatist advances in southern Yemen, UAE troop withdrawals, and Saudi-UAE tensions over alleged weapons shipments, raising concerns about the potential reemergence of a separate South Yemen.
