ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson cautioned that the IAEA Board of Governors’ recent resolution against Tehran will add further complications instead of helping resolve the remaining issues.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, criticized the recent IAEA Board of Governors resolution, calling it contrary to the agency’s established procedures and an unnecessary source of further complications. He accused the resolution’s sponsors of acting without goodwill and described the measure as a “stain” on their record due to its failure to address the underlying issues.
Baghaei noted that Iran has already taken one step in response by invalidating the understanding reached with the IAEA in Cairo on September 9. He added that Tehran will evaluate additional actions based on what best protects the country’s national interests and rights, emphasizing that any strategic decision will be made with these priorities in mind.
Addressing remarks by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Baghaei rejected claims of a deadlock between Iran and the agency. He stressed that Iran remains an IAEA member with its own expectations and urged the agency’s leadership to uphold its technical duties while resisting political pressure from the United States and three European countries.
