ALWAGHT- Israeli forces have killed two Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, in what marks the latest breach of the fragile ceasefire agreement declared on October 10 between the Hamas resistance movement and the occupying Tel Aviv regime.
Two Palestinians were fatally shot by Israeli forces in Gaza City’s al-Tuffah neighborhood, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA. This incident follows a surge in violence, with at least 24 bodies and 74 wounded brought to local hospitals in just 24 hours, and 42 people killed across Gaza on Sunday — the deadliest day since the ceasefire began. Israeli strikes have also targeted displaced persons’ camps and civilian areas in northern and southern Gaza, including Rafah.
Israel claimed its attacks were in retaliation for a Hamas strike that killed two Israeli soldiers, though US officials later clarified the explosion was caused by an Israeli settler bulldozer hitting unexploded ordnance. Since the ceasefire started on October 10, Israel has reportedly violated it 80 times, killing at least 97 Palestinians and wounding over 230. The truce was intended to halt attacks, facilitate troop withdrawal, and expand humanitarian aid, with Hamas releasing captives in exchange for Palestinian detainees and bodies of the dead.
Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed more than 68,000 Palestinians — mostly women and children — leaving vast destruction across the strip. UN humanitarian chief Thomas Fletcher shared footage showing Gaza reduced to rubble, calling it a “barren wasteland.” Human rights advocates, including Kenneth Roth, have linked the devastation to potential violations of the UN Genocide Convention, citing deliberate conditions of life designed to destroy a population.
