ALWAGHT- Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday that Russia is prepared to broaden its cooperation with Iran across all sectors, noting that bilateral relations are progressing rapidly.
On October 20, 2025, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reiterated Russia’s intention to broaden cooperation with Iran across all sectors, including nuclear energy, defense, and trade. He described Tehran as a “dynamic partner” and criticized European nations for applying “excessive pressure” on Iran over its nuclear program, calling the situation “very complicated.”
This statement follows the signing of the Iranian–Russian Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in January 2025, a 20-year agreement encompassing defense, energy, counterterrorism, and regional cooperation. Ratified earlier this year, the treaty seeks to counter the effects of US sanctions and deepen bilateral relations.
Russia’s state nuclear company, Rosatom, has signed a $25 billion deal to build four nuclear power plants in Iran to help address the country’s energy shortages.
Peskov also condemned previous US and Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, reiterating Russia’s opposition to such strikes and its support for negotiations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He stressed that there is no justification for placing excessive pressure on Iran, a sovereign nation.
