ALWAGHT- In southeastern Tehran, Iran’s intelligence forces successfully neutralized a sabotage group connected to the MKO terrorist organization.
Mohammad Hassanpour, Governor of Pakdasht County, announced that Iranian intelligence forces recently apprehended a three-member sabotage team aiming to undermine public security and create instability. The team was tracked and captured after a thorough surveillance operation.
Hassanpour emphasized that hostile groups have long sought to recruit individuals to carry out violent acts and sabotage, and that the detainees are currently undergoing specialized interrogations. He affirmed that Iran’s judiciary and security agencies remain committed to preventing such threats and will firmly address any attempts to disrupt national security.
The Mojahedin-e Khalq Terrorist Organization (MKO), linked to the detainees, has a long history of terrorist attacks in Iran, responsible for thousands of civilian and official deaths since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Although previously designated as a terrorist group by the EU and the US, those designations were lifted in 2009 and 2012 respectively, following political lobbying.
