ALWAGHT- An Iranian company has delivered an initial batch of polio vaccines to Venezuela as part of expanding cooperation between the two nations to mitigate the effects of US sanctions on their economies.
Iran’s Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute has exported a batch of oral polio vaccines to Venezuela in response to an official request from the South American country, which is facing a severe polio vaccine shortage due to global supply issues and US sanctions. The shipment was delivered via a direct flight from Tehran to Caracas, ensuring proper cold chain preservation.
The export marks a significant step for Razi, strengthening its role as a key regional and international vaccine producer. According to the institute’s head, Ali Es’haqi, this effort not only addresses urgent health needs in Venezuela but also opens a new chapter for Iranian vaccine exports to South America.
Iran and Venezuela have deepened their cooperation in recent years, primarily focused on oil, but expanding into broader areas to counteract the economic pressures from US sanctions. This vaccine delivery reflects the growing partnership between the two countries amid ongoing economic challenges.
