Iran and Oman signed 18 memoranda of understanding on Tuesday during the Iran-Oman Joint Economic Committee, aiming to strengthen cooperation across diverse sectors including legal, economic, cultural, defense, energy, and technology. As a symbol of their historical and cultural ties, both nations also unveiled a commemorative joint postage stamp. The agreements reflect a shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations on multiple fronts.
President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Muscat at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and was received with an official welcome. He held high-level talks with the Sultan and participated in a joint session with senior officials from both countries. During the meeting, Pezeshkian praised Oman’s constructive role in facilitating Iran-US dialogue and emphasized Iran's readiness to expand cooperation in all areas.
Sultan Haitham echoed the sentiment, calling for expanded trade and infrastructure links, including enhanced port relations and greater use of Iran's rail network. He highlighted the importance of strengthening energy cooperation and expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties. This visit marks Pezeshkian’s tenth foreign trip since assuming office, underlining the significance of regional diplomacy in his foreign policy agenda.
