Iranian FM in Cairo Calls on Muslim World to Unite Against Israeli Offensives in Gaza

ALWAGHT- Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araghchi has appealed to Muslim states for joint and effective steps to confront Israeli atrocities in Gaza and its expansionist presence in Lebanon and Syria.

During his visit to Cairo, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, where he condemned Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza as genocidal and highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians. Araghchi stressed the need for “collective and effective” action from Muslim countries to confront Israeli aggression and praised the growing cooperation between Iran and Egypt on regional issues.

President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s efforts to halt the violence in Gaza and emphasized Cairo’s commitment to reducing tensions and promoting regional peace. He also expressed support for strengthening bilateral ties with Iran based on mutual respect and shared interests, calling for continued consultation between the two nations amid the region’s volatile climate.

The two officials also addressed the ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the US, with Oman serving as mediator. Araghchi’s regional tour, which includes a stop in Lebanon, focuses on fostering dialogue among key regional players in light of crises in Gaza, Sudan, and Libya. Iranian officials highlighted steady progress in Tehran-Cairo relations through ongoing diplomatic engagement and collaboration.
