ALWAGHT- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that nuclear technology, including uranium enrichment, is an inalienable right of the Iranian people, asserting that no one has the authority to deny this right.
On Saturday, Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran to honor the founder of the Islamic Republic ahead of the 36th anniversary of his passing. Araghchi highlighted that the Foreign Ministry’s approach to foreign policy is grounded in Khomeini’s vision, particularly the principle of rejecting foreign domination and hegemony.
Araghchi reaffirmed that this principle remains central in Iran’s nuclear negotiations, stating that the country will never surrender its right to enrich uranium. He emphasized that nuclear energy is an inalienable right of the Iranian people and that no external power has the authority to strip Iran of this entitlement.
While reiterating Iran’s opposition to nuclear weapons, Araghchi said Tehran is open to negotiations to ensure its nuclear program remains peaceful. He also referenced ongoing mediated talks with the United States—facilitated by Oman—aimed at reaching an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.
