Ayatollah Sistani –“the white thread becomes clear to you from a black thread at the dawn”

Alwaght- The world is busy, shocked and overwhelmed, with the hideous crimes done by the terrorists in the name of Islam. The Muslims are busy with Shariaa questions that arose by these crimes, and the extent of their credibility in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Messenger. The Supreme religious authority, once again, steps up to shape up an important issue that has long been a controversy throughout history, namely the issue of the relationship with others, blasphemy, as well as, war ethics in Islam’s point view.

Today, a guiding letter was issued by the Supreme religious authority to the Jihadi fighter in the battlefield. Ayatollah Sistani clarified in it the strategies to be followed and adhered to with regard to the three levels mentioned above.

The Supreme religious authority has legalized the position and tools with wisdom, rationality, and doctrinal, humanitarian, religious and pure vision. It has adopted a lot of historical texts and evidences that exposed the false claims of the terrorists, on the following basis.

First, the adoption of the humanitarian dimension in the battlefield – this means the need to bypass all other narrow dimensions such as those of religious or sectarian background. Thus, it is prohibited, for instance, to trespass the Shariaa rules under the excuse of difference in religion, doctrine, etc.

Second, the requirement to adhere to war ethics under any circumstances – this implies that any complexities should not force us to override upon the lives or properties unjustly. The Shariaa has identified law and regulation that should be adhered to regardless of the circumstances and the complexities in the battlefield. There is nothing that would justify crimes in the battlefield.

Third, the sanctity of dealing with other on religious basis – this means that it is forbidden to  inspect others for their religion or doctrine, which would eventually establishes a civil society apart from all kinds of discrimination (religious, sectarian, ethnic, etc.). The relationship with others should be based on the general framework, such as the humanitarian or the national one.

Fourth, the sanctity of overriding the right of others by any excuse – the rights of all are protected without any discrimination (religious, sectarian, ethnic, etc.), which would also establish the governorship of the civil society.

Fifth, the criminalization of blasphemy in any way and rising awareness against it, especially if it caused killings and infringement of rights – it is a crime that should not be tolerated. The guiding letter has reported a great text by Imam Ali which emphasized the standard in fighting the Khawarej which is not because of their disbelief - although they have accused him with blasphemy – but because they were aggressors, overriders and outlaws.

Sixth, any act that trespasses war ethics in the battlefield is a crime, and is regarded as terrorism – the practices done by the terrorists, such as the beheadings, desecrating corpses, captivating women and selling them in slave markets, raising severed heads in public place, and burning live victims, are all illegal par excellence.

A careful analysis of the Supreme religious authority suggests that is it more than mere guidance for the fighters. It is as follows.

First, it is a letter which condemns and criminalizes all of the practices and crimes of the terrorists that do not rely on any legitimate basis. Their ruling depends on false, incomplete and unilateral view of a religious text. The terrorists are not in a position to devise rules and regulations of religious text, and thus, their false analysis lead them to commit such crimes.

Second, it is an explanatory letter of Islam’s realities. It has answered a lot of questions and suspicions regarding the terrorist crimes, especially recently.

It is a letter which illustrates the humanitarian aspect of the religion of ALLA and the nobility of it values and foundations even in battlefields and wars.

Third, it is a letter that distinguishes between two schools, the school of Ahlulbayt and the school of Khulafaa. This is an important issue for the world to fully understand, as it should not confuse things and fish in turbid water.

Why don’t we declare the impeccable truth that have been proven by facts and realities especially in the last two decades? The truth says that the source of all terrorism (religious) which is striking north and south is the false readings of the school of Khulafaa? Had not the terrorists burn their last victim based on a Fatwa by their most prominent theorists of this school, Ibn Taymiyyah? Had not the terrorists destroy everything in Moussel and abuse its people based on the Fatwa of their jurists, especially those who are protected by the corrupted tribal system governing the Arabian peninsula? Why do not we call the things by its name? Why do we hold the truth by falsehood? And the victim by the guiltiness of the executioner?

The letter of the Supreme religious authority has clarified all of the issues that are controversial, where it showed the white thread becomes clear to you from a black thread at the dawn” , where has put an end to the false claims.
