Imad Khamis Tasked with Forming New Syrian Govt.

Alwaght- Imad Khamis current Syrian Minister of Electricity has been tasked with forming a new government, sources have revealed.

According to Rusiya Al-Yaum TV, sources in Damascus have disclosed that, Khamis has proposed new ministers in a cabinet he is expected to lead as prime minister. Among the names mentioned include Fars Shahadi as Industries Minister, Hiyan Suleiman Minister of Economy, Bashar as Saban Interior minister, Mohamad Jihad al-Laham Justice Minister, Hilal Hilal Communications Minister,   Ali Abdul Karim, Information Minister, Rama Aziz Agriculture Minister, Imad Al Asil Trade and Commerce Minister, Fadia Dib Health Minister and Faroukh Al Amutalq Education Minister.

Some ministers holding positions in the current government are expected to retain their ministries including Walid Al Moallem Foreign Ministry, Fahd Jasim Al Farij Defense Ministry.

Syria’s ruling Ba’ath Party and its allies won the majority of the votes in the recent parliamentary elections in the country.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy it blames on some Western governments and their regional allies including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Israeli regime. According to a February report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people in total since March 2011.
