Homemade Explosive Blast Hits Istanbul; Casualties Reported

Alwaght- Several people injured in a homemade explosive blast in Istanbul's Maltepe district under an overpass on Monday, Anadolu agency reported.

Death toll still unknown but four people were seriously wounded overnight when Two passengers in a car driving under the overpass and two pedestrians waiting for a taxi were hit by flying pieces of metal and hospitalized, Anandolu quoted the sources as speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The recent incidents in various areas of Turkey bring to mind that Erdogan is not able to provide security for its citizens.

Turkey was already on edge following two recent suicide car bomb attacks in the capital, Ankara, which were claimed by a Kurdish militant group. The most recent bombing attack, on March 13, targeted bus stops on Ankara’s busiest street, killing 37 people and injured more than a hundred people.

Also in a similar incident In January, in an explosion that rocked touristic Sultanahmet Square in Turkey's Istanbul, 10 people were killed while at least 20 people wounded. The attack was blamed on ISIS Takfiri terrorists.
