ALWAGHT- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has condemned the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, describing it as an unacceptable example of attempts to impose political outcomes through coercion.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, members of his family, and Iranian officials, calling the use of force unacceptable. He also criticized US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s civilian infrastructure and safeguarded nuclear facilities, warning of damage to the international non-proliferation system.
On the Strait of Hormuz, Lavrov said Russia had proposed an initiative to promote peace in the Persian Gulf and help resolve the crisis surrounding the strategic waterway. He stressed the need for greater trust among Iran and Persian Gulf states, warning that continued regional clashes threaten global navigation and trade.
Lavrov also highlighted the Palestinian issue, saying the international community must address Palestinian statehood. He criticized the lack of progress toward peace in Gaza and pointed to the continuing humanitarian crisis and Israel’s expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
