ALWAGHT- The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran denied any link between the country's nuclear sites and images allegedly showing an explosion in central Iran.
When asked about recent images purportedly showing an explosion near the central city of Kashan, Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told reporters on Wednesday that the incident is entirely unrelated to the nuclear industry.
"That scene is unrelated to the nuclear sites and industry. It was not even close to our site. It was one of the cases that happen occasionally and are cited in reports," he explained on the sidelines of a weekly cabinet meeting.
In April, the Zionist regime had intensified its military rhetoric against Iran following Tehran's retaliatory operation against Israeli military targets in the occupied territories, a response to a deadly airstrike by Israel on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1.
The International Atomic Energy Agency previously confirmed that Iran’s nuclear sites had not sustained any damage after sounds of explosions were heard in Isfahan on April 19.
Speculation had been rampant that the Israeli regime attacked several sites in Iran’s central province of Isfahan after a series of explosions were reported. Iranian officials quickly denied the rumor, explaining that the air defense units had gone into firing mode due to the high sensitivity of the air defense facilities.
