These facts are coming while the Palestinian groups in the recent months have got closer to each other, as the Hamas and Fatah movements' negotiations have yielded favorable outcomes. There is also a strong possibility that the Palestinian sides reach a comprehensive agreement in the near future. Such a unity among the Palestinians would implicitly mean that the hands of the Israeli Likud Party and such leaders as Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, are no longer open to make any move they wish in the shadow of the current conditions, however, the issue has become of less significance as the attentions are paid to ISIS' crisis and the Muslim countries are immersed in the terrorist group's quagmire. Therefore, a strategy must be found to settle the case, otherwise, a rise in the Israeli regime's power in the region and in dealing with the Palestinian issue could be very likely.
Although Tel Aviv has enjoyed having such an instrument as the West over the years, and it could utilize all the West's security tools and form a special political and military unit in the region, during all the past years the issue that has pushed the Israeli regime in weak position has been the popular will and the Muslim and Arab world's public opinions. Tel Aviv has been unsuccessful in dealing with them. Actually, in case the Arab governments opt to counter the Israeli regime, they would have a scanty chance of success, but when it comes to countering the people, it is another case. During the past decades, the Israeli regime has struggled to downgrade the Palestinian issue to a secondary concern of the Arab world, as it diverted the Palestinian cause off its main course by exploiting the Aljazeera news channel's launching, making the channel serve its propaganda operations. Disconnecting the resistance and the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, the Israeli regime has succeeded in taking the Palestine's name off the media, reaching some of its set goals. Using financial and military tools, Tel Aviv has always had the leverage to contribute to suppression of the resistant groups in the region, plotted coups in some countries and pushed some countries in tight corners. The Israeli government had the necessary tools to use them especially in the Arab countries. But, the fact is that during all the years the Israeli regime has lacked the power to change the popular will.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the new regional developments and specifically the rise of the ISIS terrorist group have pushed the Palestinian cause to the sidelines, however, it should not be disregarded that after defeating ISIS the Palestinian issue could resurface as a top issue in the region.
